FABRIC!!!

Have I said how much I love fabric? I love the texture and color and all the ideas I get when I have new fabric. I got this box in today. I ordered it from Fat Quarter Shop. Oh the ideas! My absolute favorite is the owl fabric in the very back. It is called Camp Fun Times. :) I am going to make a Four Cornor Apron. Behind the owl fabric, hidden away, is a polka dot coordinating fabric. I can't wait to get started. But I will have to. I leave for the beach at Hilton Head Island on Sunday. That will give me plenty of time for more fabric idea planning.

The Gift Set

Pacifier holder with a covered button and clip to attach to shirt, bib or car seat strap.

This is a changing pad with a pocket for travel wipes and diapers. All folds up and velcros to carry in diaper bag.

Baby Shower Gifts Are Made!

This is a quilted lovey with ribbon tags and a teether.
I used a baseball theme with red check as the accent fabric.

I have finished the robe.

I finished it! My niece's minkee robe is all done and at home with her already. Her sweet words of "Thank you. My love it." was worth a day of sewing. It was an easy pattern. I used Simplicity's 2826, size 3.

Tomorrow I will be working on a baby shower gift. Pictures to come.

Busy, busy, busy

It was a busy week. Our son, who is getting ready to graduate college in May, has decided to lease a house with a friend. We spent two afternoons and most of Saturday cleaning it. We had Marriage Matters seminar at church this week and then Sunday worship, followed by our Care Group lunch, home for an hour and out to get some shopping done. I bought a new pair of walking shoes and we purchased a new printer.

Today has been a day of planning. Now, I just need to get busy. My new list of to-do's is almost two pages long. My most immediate projects are finishing my little niece's robe and making my baby shower gifts for a friend. I am going to try a couple of new things for the shower.

I love fabric. I love to touch it, I love the colors and the textures. I especially love to buy fabric and plan projects with it. I shopped on Fat Quarter Shop today! I can't wait to get my fabric package! I ordered six different charm packs and my favorite fabric was Camp Fun Time Owls fabric with coordinating polka dot fabric.

I will post pictures of the robe and shower gifts, hopefully by Wednesday!

Yo-yo Barrette

This week will be hard to find time to do any crafting but I did squeeze a few minutes in to put together these little yo-yo barrettes with a covered button in the center. I really like how they turned out.

Yo-yo's

I love yo-yo's but have never made any until Thursday night. I made these while watching television. I think I will cover some buttons to finish off and make barrettes out of the small ones and purse adornments out of the larger yo-yo's.

Purse Tissue Holder

I love to make these little pocketbook tissue holders. Doesn't the ric-rac trim just set it off?

Jewelry Bag

I made this sweet little jewelry bag from the Calico Carriage Designs free tutorial. It was easy to make and I love the way it looks like a flower when closed.

Heat Therapy Rice Bag

My friend's birthday was last week. I made a few little things for her. This is a patchwork heat therapy rice bag. It feels so good on sore muscles or even to warm and put in the bed to warm your feet. I think I will make myself one! :) I used a pattern from SewMamaSew.com. They are one of my favorite blogs.

It's Monday

It was a great weekend! Both my kids home, we are all feeling better physically, we celebrated Cody's birthday, we were able to worship at church after a three week illness hiatus, and my guys watched the Super Bowl together. :) I am not a football fan and really don't understand the football lingo but I am a Stan and Cody fan, so while they watched the game, I was able to get three patterns all trimmed, folded and put back in the envelopes. That has helped me be a little bit ahead for the week.

My week's plan for sewing:
Make a bag for a special friend; it is a birthday gift.
Make my niece her "bumpy" robe out of minky fabric.
Make more hair barrettes.

Get to the store and buy: Butterick pattern B5181, McCalls patterns M5652 and M5317. All patterns my almost 20 year old has requested for the summer. Sundresses, that will keep her stay cool if she stays in Charleston for the summer or gets the job in California, she has applied for.

But today is cleaning day. Change sheets, laundry, bathrooms. You know, all those weekly chores. If I get it all done today, I get to play tomorrow.

See you in my sewing room. :)
