My son is 22 today. I can't believe I am old enough to have a child this age. I am so proud of the man Cody has become and proud to be his mom.

Tomorrow my almost 20 year old daughter comes home to celebrate Cody's birthday. It will be so wonderful to have them both home, sleeping under the same roof.

Today I am longing to be in my sewing room but instead I am cleaning and grocery shopping. Well, real life must intrude at times.

Bag is finished

I have completed the bag in my yahoo group's sew-along. It is a travel bag with a zipped front pocket and two open pockets on the inside. It is perfect for vacations where you don't want anything heavy. It will easily hold sunglasses, small wallet, lipstick, and the ever-present, all-important hand sanitizer!

I used a large snap for closing the flap and covered a large button out of the bag fabric to accesorize the flap.

The left swirly fabric and the middle mod flower fabric is my sew-along bag fabric. The left dragonfly fabric is for a shoulder bag for Hanna, my daughter. I love all of these colors.
Today we found out my husband has pneumonia. No wonder he is having a difficult time getting well. I did sneak in a bit of activity in my sewing room and cut out my group sew-along bag. I hope to get it made tomorrow. I also have made my friend Kelli's, of http://joy-kelli.blogspot.com/, No Bake Cookie recipe. They are in the fridge getting firm. Yum! I can't wait. I haven't had any dessert this week.

hair barrettes

I worked this afternoon on a few hair barrettes. I tried several different ways of cutting out and stitching and finally found one I was happy with. I like the end result and especially like the ric-rac barrette and the green one. Well...green is my favorite color.
well...My desire to get busy in January has not worked out. Instead I was sick and now Stan is sick and I have been busy being a nurse. I am hoping to get into the sewing room at some point today.

My first day of blogging

I love sewing and craft blogs. I seem to be able to spend many hours going from blog to blog. I have decided to try my hand at blogging in hopes that it will help me with my own planning of my sewing and craft projects.

January plans, as of today:
Finish organizing sewing supplies and fabric.
Make the Sew-along, Jeannie Travel Bag from Bags to Brag About tutorial Yahoo site.
Make my 2 year old niece, Jordan, a robe made out of Minky fabric. She calls it a "bumpy robe".
Make my daughter an Amy Butler Birdie Sling bag.
